Community Harvest Store(sm)
Why should you purchase one of our sustainable products?
One of the main impacts we can have on the world is through the millions of dollars that each of spends each year on purchasing products. By carefully choosing what we buy, we can use this purchasing power to encourage the growth and production of communities that are sustainable in a variety of ways rather than unknowingly paying for products that may harm people or nature. Therefore, purchasing sustainable products is one of the most influential steps we can take as consumers to decrease our negative impact on nature. Such products decrease daily energy consumption, are less toxic than other products, and they help in “closing the loop” by using compostable materials to make new products. In addition, as demand increases for these products they become more competitive in price, quality and availability when compared to other conventional alternatives.
Healthy Snack Foods
We know you are going to snack while you work, so we decided to bring you the best that our community has to offer in snack foods. So don't wait until the last minute to think about snacking, because then you will have to run to the vending machine and buy a processed "fast food" snack product which you know is not good for you. So plan ahead for yourself and set the example for your co-workers and buy our snack foods. You must plan ahead for your business so why not include our snack foods as part of your planning.
Light Snacks-An example of a light snack would be eating several almonds from anyone of our raw or flavored 8 oz. zip-lock packages. Don't forget, this is supposed to be a snack and not a meal.
Heavy Snacks-An example of a full snack would be some almond butter and jam from Lagier Ranches on a cracker or roll. Talk about a delicious and satisfying snack!
Lagier Ranches is a very special producer of consumer products.
They are special for the following reasons:
1. They grow their own almonds and berries. They have been a family run farm since the 1800's.
2. They grow their crops based on National Organic Standards and have been certified organic for many years.
3. They are not only growers, but they are also organic processors. This means they must see that their nuts are hulled, cleaned, then flavored into the five flavors you see on our site.
4. They are also packagers. Some processors only sell their product in bulk. Lagier goes through the extra work to also package their product into consumer friendly packages: zip-lock bags in the case of the almonds and consumer-size jars in the case of the jams.
In short, Lagier is an integrated, production facility. From conception-to-consumption they carry the burden of our harvest in a mature manner so that consumers are able to buy the best that our community has to offer.
We hope to add additional products to our store in the near future
